Microsoft Band 2 Update Now Lets Android Smartphones Support Cortana

Android smartphone users who own the Microsoft Band 2 will be satisfied to learn that the Redmond-based company has pushed out an update for the Microsoft Health application, which brings support for Cortana, the intelligent personal assistant.

Android users can now tap into the control of Cortana on the Microsoft Band 2.Earlier, the digital personal assistant was only accessible via Redmond’s fitness tracker if we had a Windows phone.

“With Cortana on your Band, you can access…instant notifications of important events, communications, and voice-active info without reaching for your phone,” the Google Play store description says. “Speak into the mic on your Band to Cortana to take actions for you.”

The user will require the most recent Microsoft Band wearable$249.99 at Dell and an Android smartphone with the Cortana app and Microsoft Health app; once the update is finished, remember to add Cortana through the Manage Tile section of the app. The feature is currently accessible only in the US, as per The Digital Lifestyle.

The usual voice commands and features of Cortana are presented, including the ability to reply to notifications and texts. Microsoft has been constantly updating its Band software, and the new updates also include the ability to create fitness challenges against companions. The latest Microsoft Health app is available directly in the Google Play Store.

“Cortana is now available on Android – With Cortana on your Band, you can access your personal assistant for instant notifications of important events, communications, and voice-active info without reaching for your phone. Speak into the mic on your Band to Cortana to take actions for you, get facts, and more,” notes Microsoft.

To get Cortana support on their Microsoft Band 2, Android clients are required to download the Cortana application for Android from the Play Store. Present the application and guarantee the application warning administrations are on. Since the application is presented on the Android cell phone, one needs to turn the tile “on” on the Band 2 – it is presently replaced on as a matter of course.

Make sure our Band 2 is synced with the Android smartphone. The user needs to use the Microsoft Health app for Android to sync the two devices. Once the Cortana app has been mounted on your smartphone, switch it on in the Health app. To do so follow these steps:

1. Tap on the Menu icon > Manage Tiles

2. Toggle Cortana “On”

We are now good to go and can use Cortana to give instructions!
