Twitter Verified Account Process Is Easy Now
If you want that coveted Bluetick mark right adjacent to your profile name on Twitter, which makes you a verified user as well as your profile an authentic one. Here is some good news for you. Now you don’t have to get through hefty verification processes. Twitter is planning to make the process to request the blue tick simpler. It will soon be a lot easier to get that coveted blue check mark next to our name on Twitter.
Twitter is opening the blue checkmark to everybody. Opening today, the company will permit users to request a verified account on its website by filling out a form with an email address and verified phone number, a profile photo. They must also mention why Twitter should verify their account – for individuals, Twitter said on its website, it needs to understand their impact in their particular fields while for companies, it wants to know their purpose.
In describing who will get permitted, Twitter still declares “an account may be verified if it is determined to be of public interest.” Prior to today, Twitter tended only to verify public figures, brands, and people in politics, media, business, sports, and other high-profile sectors.
Steps Verify your Twitter account?
- Open your Twitter account settings and make sure you have a verified phone number, confirmed email address, a bio, profile photo, header photo, a website and a birthday (required for personal accounts only).
- Your tweets must set to public in your privacy settings.
- Improve your chances of approval by having a username that reflects the real name of the person or company. The account’s profile or header photo should also reflect the person or company’s branding, according to Twitter.
- Fill out and submit the form to request account verification. Explain why Twitter should verify your account and provide examples to help the company understand your impact. Provide at least two URLs to showcase your newsworthiness or relevancy in your field. Finally, Twitter may also request a scan or photo of a government-issued ID to confirm your identity.
Twitter also indicated that it might appeal users to scan and upload a legible copy of their government-issued identification documents, such as passports or driver’s licenses to check their identity.
“We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification,” said Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter’s vice president of user services, in a statement. “We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience.”
On Tuesday the application procedure started rolling out in the U.S. and will be presented globally this week.
Verified accounts generally belong to people who use a certain degree of influence, either by themselves or by their associated organizations.
Twitter said on its website, accounts that get verified are “determined to be an account of public interest.”
Twitter has also added a new support page showing the process of applying for the verified badge to make it an easy and hassle free experience for the users.
It’s not clear why Twitter is opening the process to the public. The company declares it has about 187,000 verified accounts, but around 310 million monthly active users. The discrepancy there, alongside increased burden to provide anti-harassment tools, means more and more users may only be relating with those who share their verification status. For example, Twitter lets verified users filter their notifications to only show responses, mentions, or likes by other verified users.
